To celebrate their 40 years of making music together Glenuig Hall is proud to host a weekend of music with Jim Hunter and Jim Michie, accompanied and supported by a host of friends and collaborators.

Jim Hunter: Songwriter, guitarist, performer, tutor, mentor to many and leading light of the Crack o’ Noon Club and The Gin Shed, Jim Hunter has been at the heart of the west coast and Scottish music scenes for many years. From the early days of all night sessions in Glenuig and Lochailort and his first album Burnt Out In The Snow (1988), through a further nine albums and extensive touring at home and abroad, Jim has developed an enthusiastic fanbase and reputation for great music and good craic.

Featuring wonderful self-penned songs, from the lovelorn Waste The Paint, the historical When The Geese Fly Over and more jocular Big Man With The Beard, Jim’s songs and music are overlaid by his early influences of the blues infused rock of bands such as Little Feat, The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd and gentler harmonic tones of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Scottish and Irish traditional music.

Jim is one of Scotland's finest singers and best kept cult secrets, a truly superb songwriter and guitarist with an instantly recognisable voice and lyrics which can silence the most crowded room.

Jim Michie: Heavily influenced by guitar virtuosos such as James Taylor, Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, Jim Michie has long been much sought after as a session musician in concert and recording studios. Showcasing his distinctive guitar style and vocals with a repertoire that looks back over forty years of songs and tunes, the Friday night concert will also feature many who have collaborated with Jim over the years.

It is now forty years since Jim Hunter and Jim Michie first took out their guitars in Glenuig and had their first session together. That friendship and their music has taken them on a long and successful trip around the world ever since. To celebrate this benchmark, Glenuig Hall invites you to two unique concerts this summer.

SATURDAY NIGHT 16th July: The second concert will see Jim Hunter taking over the helm with the band. With some trademark blues slide guitar and well-worn vocals, this concert will feature songs from every one of his ten albums. The Crack O’ Noon Club and a couple of surprise guest vocalists will provide the perfect aural landscape to hear all of this in the beautiful atmosphere of Glenuig Hall.

The Crack O’ Noon Club are: Graham Flett (Bass), Jamie Ash (Drums), Wendy Weatherby (Cello), Brian MacAlpine (Keyboards) plus guest members James Mackintosh (Percussion) & Gordon Gunn (Fiddle/Mandolin).
