Natural Beekeeping Course

For people with no previous knowledge of bees or beekeeping, this course will provide you with all the information you need to decide if, when and how you will become a beekeeper.

Are you interested in learning about a way to keep bees that is -
- as natural as possible- requires NO heavy lifting- has very low costs- uses no synthetic chemicals- sustainable- easy to learn- is healthy for bees and for you?
On this workshop you can find out about methods of low-impact, low-cost, chemical-free, natural and balanced beekeeping, using simple equipment that you can make at home.
Learn about 'balanced beekeeping' in top bar hives: a simple, practical way to have healthy and happy bees in your garden, with the possibility of your own honey harvest, but without the cost and complications associated with conventional beekeeping.

The weekend will be a mixture of illustrated talks, demonstrations and discussion, and questions are encouraged throughout. Teaching material and methods will be adapted to meet the needs of students as much as possible, while ensuring coverage of important areas. Suitable for people who have done some practical beekeeping in any type of hive and wish to convert to more natural methods, as well as those who wish to improve their top bar management skills. While focus is always on the major theme of the event, students are encouraged to explore connected areas and to share ideas and experiences. 
Course to take place at Glenuig Hall with refreshments provided (tea/coffee/cake).
Pot luck cold lunch - please bring along something to contribute.


FAQs
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Nearest train station is Lochailort - lifts can be arranged.
Plenty of parking at the hall.
Local accommodation is available - contact the organiser for more info.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Not necessary - we'll have your details via Eventbrite.

What is the refund policy?
If we don't get enough bookings by the end of March (yes that's very soon!) to make the course viable, it won't be able to go ahead - and so a full refund will be given.
