The Inglorious Twelfth – A COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER
12 August 2017

The Inglorious Twelfth – A COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER

The Inglorious Twelfth – A COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER – open to all.

The PH38 Development Company are delighted to be coming to the end of their feasibility study, results of which strongly support the need for affordable housing in Glenuig. We are very excited to have our first fundraising evening on 12th August at Glenuig Hall. A family friendly evening with kid’s Lucky Dip, tombola, raffle, fantastic music and a delicious buffet. There will be the opportunity to find out more information about the Glenuig Community Housing Project and there will also be the chance to win some fantastic prizes in the raffle! Including £50 voucher for Arisaig Hotel and a free month’s membership to Mallaig Swimming Pool and much more! Our MC for the evening will be the legendary Jim Hunter. Featuring performances by Glenuig troubadour Ali Begg, Glasgow blues band The Travelling Rhythm Devils and a very welcome return from our Mull based folk heroes Hannah Fisher & Sorren Maclean.

Ali Begg was raised in Glenuig and learnt to play the guitar from the age of 7 at the hands of local dear friend and rare talent Jim Hunter (winner of Tutor of the Year 2016 at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards). We are very proud to have Ali perform a selection of his compelling and deeply moving songs.

Hannah Fisher and Sorren Maclean play a mix of original and contemporary songs and tunes, blending rich vocal harmonies with bluegrass influenced fiddle tunes. Both Hannah and Sorren tour extensively with Idlewild, Roddy Woomble, King Creosote and Karen Matheson. Both have released solo records in the past couple of years, with Sorren's debut album 'Winter Stay Autumn' being included in The Herald's 'Top 50 Scottish Albums of 2015'. They gave us a wonderful concert last year and we are really looking forward to their return visit!

The Travelling Rhythm Devils are a 4 piece guitar based band from the Glasgow area. They have played at the Eden Festival and Bluebell festival amongst many other venues around Scotland. Their fabulous mixture of pop and blues rock is guaranteed to have you up singing and dancing to many well- known favourites and we are ready to give them a warm welcome!

Start time 7pm, £10 entry fee with a cold buffet available from 9pm.
