JOHNNY DICKINSON
- The Most Potent Slide Player in the UK
"I'd go a long way to listen to Johnny Dickinson. You hear a lot of good influences in his music but the result is something special. For me his playing really hits the spot." John Renbourn
Northumbrian Johnny Dickinson has a thriving career in the UK, receiving kudos from other legendary players such as John Renbourn and Tommy Emmanuel. Aside from Dickinson's reputation at home as a great slide and lap-steel player, the songs move effortlessly from folk to blues to Americana, with each genre as natural to his own style as the next.
After a spell playing pedal-steel with London's Western Swing outfit, The Moonshine Boys, in 1988 Johnny became a founder member of Paul Lamb and the Kingsnakes, playing and singing alongside Jim McCarty, Top Topham, Rod Demmick and Johnny Whitehill, who remains a member of the band. During Johnny's two years with the band they were winners of many British and International Blues awards. After giving his all to the Kingsnakes, John now treads the boards as a solo artist.

SHARON KING and the NEVERNEVER COWBOYS

Sharon King is a troubadour in the purest sense of the word. Her live performances are an engagement with the audience which is far too seldom experienced these days. This rapport reflects the integral part that music plays in her life and the importance of converting experience into song. Renowned for her relaxed intimacy at gigs she has a dry humour and wit which are both endearing and candid.
The Nevernever Cowboys is an umbrella term for the myriad of musician Sharon draws along with her in her ‘open road’ musical journey. Their new CD release Reckless Angels was released in October 2009, draws in other musicians and there is a wealth of talent involved including; Vera van Heeringen; New Rope String Band – fiddle, mandolin and backing vocals; Inge Thomson; Karine Polwart Band, Harem Scarem – accordion. Kaela Rowan; Mouth Music – backing vocals. Cello, bass and piano all add a richness and variety to the overall sound while King’s production skills remain true to her vision of an open, spacey sound. The song is central.
