MAGNETIC NORTH THEATRE present A Walk at the Edge of the World
Text by Nicholas Bone
Design by Sans façon
Performed by Ian Cameron

“A wonderful meditation on journeys, lives and spaces.”  Audience member

Made by the same creative team as Magnetic North’s hit show Walden (2009-10), A Walk at the Edge of the World is inspired by the act of walking and examines the particular character of the coast – a crossing point where the land meets the sea and a place of arrival and departure.  A Walk at the Edge of the World begins with a short walk taken by the whole audience, from the sea to the theatre.  Once inside the theatre, as the performer begins to talk about walks he has taken, audience and performer find the projected images leading us all on another journey.  The hidden secrets of the landscape and the constantly shifting border between land and sea remind us that the past is always with us, whether we realise it or not.

Please note: The show starts with a walk from Samalaman Beach at 7:30pm. Due to limited parking at the beach area, it is advisable to park at Glenuig Hall car park and make your way to the beach in time for 7:30pm. The show then moves into the hall. For those unable to take part in the walk itself, there will be the opportunity to view this element of the show at the hall from 7:30pm".

Ticket prices: adults £10, under 18s £6.

Magnetic North is a theatre company based in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was formed in 1999 by theatre and opera director Nicholas Bone to create and develop new work.  We work with actors, playwrights, designers and composers to produce theatre that is stylish, articulate and individual.  We curate and run Rough Mix, a cross-artform creative development programme.  Recent work includes Sex and God by Linda McLean (CATS nominee for Best New Play), Kora by Tom McGrath in co-production with Dundee Rep and the ‘sort of opera’ Pass the Spoon at Tramway, Traverse and Southbank Centre - “Daft and instantly loveable” Guardian.

**** “Works beautifully… a tremendously timely piece of theatre.”  The Scotsman on Walden
