CHRIS STOUT, FINLAY MACDONALD and ROSS MARTIN

Born and brought up in the Shetland Islands, Chris Stout has, over the last few years, become nationally and internationally recognised as one of the most exciting and dynamic fiddle players and composers of his generation. Whether as a solo artist, a member of Fiddlers Bid, leading his own quintet or as one half of his duo with long time musical associate Catriona McKay, Chris continues to innovate within traditional and contemporary musical circles, delivering performances which excite and inspire audiences all over the world.

Finlay MacDonald has blazed a trail as one of the country’s finest exponents of contemporary and traditional Piping. He has worked with many leading artists in the traditional music scene including Fred Morrison, The Unusual Suspects, La Banda Europa, Old Blind Dogs and Chris Stout. He combines the mastery and dedication of traditional Piping with a true sense of musical adventure and creative collaboration producing a unique musical voice which can be heard on numerous recordings and projects. His Compositions and arrangements have been played by many leading artists including The World Champions, Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band.
Always driven by collaboration and innovation, Finlay’s passion for the music he has grown up with has led him to the post of “Head of Piping Studies” at the National Piping Centre and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he continues to inspire and develop the very best of new Piping talent.

Ross Martin (guitar) is from Arisaig though now lives in neighbouring Morar. A fisherman from early teens until his twenties, Ross has gone on to tour most of Europe and the U.S. with Irish singer Karan Casey, Buille and Daimh.

Since meeting in Glasgow over a decade ago, Chris and piper Finlay have played as a duo and as part of The Finlay MacDonald Band, taking their progressive form of pipe music to perform at festivals across. Now joined by Ross Martin on guitar, this is sure to be an excellent night of music – not to be missed!

Start time 8:00pm, tickets £10 (under18s £5).
