Members Newsletter March 2021

Newsletter sent by email to all our members in March 2021.

As everything has been so quiet for the past year we thought we would give a you a brief update on what may be going on with Glenuig Community Association and Glenuig Hall in 2021 and what we hope to achieve, and ask what you may like to see happening.

The Highland Council have contracted us to open the Glenuig Hall Toilets and Showers to the public from 1st April under their Comfort Scheme. The toilets will be open to visitors and locals free of charge, and there are £1/£2 coin meters for the showers. There is also a Donations Box which we encourage people to use and last year we received £251 in this from grateful users of the facilities. As our incomes were hit hard by the Coronavirus restrictions this was very welcome.

As you will appreciate, all our 2020 bookings of concerts, weddings and other private functions, and our own 25th anniversary of the opening of the hall, were postponed or cancelled, as have been a couple of weddings booked in for early 2021. We still have a few bookings for private functions later in the year, and are hopeful that our planned visit by Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham on Saturday 14th August will be able to go ahead.

We also hope to start some informal badminton sessions soon, to welcome back the Moidart Local History Group and the Yoga club, and to host other activities and events as soon as regulations allow. If you have any ideas or suggestions for future events or happenings please get in touch.

Current Directors (committee) of Glenuig Community Association are as follows: Sue McCann, Martyn Green, Glenda Green, Pamela Conacher, Fiona MacIsaac, Karen Whiteford, Alasdair Carmichael and Eoghan Carmichael. As we look to the longer term future of the association and Glenuig Hall new members of the committee, new ideas and some fresh enthusiasm would be very welcome. If you are interested please get in touch.

Our website www.glenuig.org.uk contains lots of information on Glenuig, the GCA and its aims and coming events in the hall, and we continue to post events on our Facebook page Glenuig Hall. The GCA also has another Facebook page designed to carry more local information as the Glenuig Hall page has a truly international following due to the high quality of events we have hosted over the years.

In the coming year we plan to have a good internet connection (up to 30 Mbps) installed in the hall by GlenuigNet to help with event management, and to have a bit of a spring clean in the hall and perhaps some redecoration.

If you have any comments or ideas for what might happen in Glenuig Hall or indeed what the GCA could or should be doing in a wider context please let us know by email, phone or better still in person by talking to any of the committee members.

We wish all our members and others in the community the best for 2021 and look forward to seeing you somewhere sometime in the next few months.

The Directors of Glenuig Community Association
Glenuig Hall, Glenuig PH38 4NG
